Sales price increase - change in royalties

From December 1st, sales prices increase.

New prices can be seen on the website.

Furthermore, we change from a fixed royalty of 1 Eur for each sold image, to a flat rate of 30% of the actual sales price. This simplifies the process for us, and will make the future price increases easier to implement. 

Promotion of special photo reports

We have recently received a batch of images from North Korea. In order to promote this images, we have made a collection of some of the images, and promote the collection on the scanstockphoto opening page. We have also made a unique google ad, specially for this collection. Hopefully this can attract new customers, and some sale of the images.

Other photographers uploading a batch of images, being somehow rare, unique, special, can expect the same. (promotion on the front page, google ads).

So, what can be if interest for such a photo report. Well, it can for instance be "Climbing Mount Everest", "Guantanamo bay images ", "A day in President Putin's life", "Vintage images from London" or "A collection of vintage  Olympic athletes"

New company logo

As most of you probably have seen, we have a new company logo. We are slowly improving the looks of our website. Hopefully, this will give some positive vibrations to our customers, and improve sales.

Election in Russia - March 4 2012 - images wanted

In short time, the Presidential Election is held in Russia.  Images from the election, and images of President Putin and Prime Minister Medvedev is of interest.

All candidates to the Presidency:

• Vladimir Putin, nominated by United Russia
• Gennady Zyuganov, nominated by Communist Party of the Russian Federation
• Sergey Mironov, nominated by A Just Russia
• Vladimir Zhirinovsky, nominated by Liberal Democratic Party of Russia
• Mikhail Prokhorov, independent.

are of interest.

If there any Russian photographers with images already, or the opportunity to get some images, don't hesitate to upload them to us.

New collection: "In the news"

We will from now on, have a collection on the front page containing images we categorize as "In the news". The collection will be updated regularly, depending on what's happening around the world. Currently we have images related to Syria, economic crisis in Europe, and the economic crisis in Greece.

We will try to add images in this collection, immediately we have images of an interesting event. Furthermore, we will remove images when the interest of a topic is reduced.

We see from previous experience that images of this kind get sales, and being promoted on the front page will increase possible sales even more. 

Simplified procedure for model releases

We are aware that the procedure for uploading model releases is time consuming. Especially for photographers with many images containing (many different) models this will be a lot a work.

For photographers with many releases and many images, we accept a easier solution:

The photographer can send all releases by e-mail to info@scanstockphoto.com.
Furthermore, the photographer must send new releases when using models for whom no release have been provided.

We will be selective when granting this simplified process. Please send us an e-mail and ask if you want to use this simplified process.

Politicians

In a previous post, we asked for images of candidates in the US Presidential Election.

We see, from sales of images of Norwegian Politicians, that there is a good idea to have more editorial images of politicians.

Of primary interest, are images of the Prime Ministers in Scandinavian (and other European countries) as well as other Ministers from the same countries.

Also other politicians figuring in the media are of interest.

Images of this kind will be sold as “editorial use only”.

Description and key wording is as always important.

Happy new year - recent news from Scanstockphoto

Yesterday, Scanstockphoto released the new search functionality. Not a revolution, but a evolution in our strive to make the customers experience as best as possible. So, what is new on search: Most important, faster. The new search engine is dimensioned for more use, and the result will be shown faster. Furthermore, filters have been added. And finally, we have added the possibility to exclude keywords from the search. There are more features to come.

We believe that new search engine will increase number of downloads. Good for you photographers, as well as good for us.

We want images from celebrations of National Days

Don’t forget to bring your camera when celebrating your country’s National Day. We do want more images from parades and similar from 17 of May in Norway, 6 of June in Sweden and other countries around the world. Both editorial images as well as regular stock images are welcome.

Images is sometimes fresh goods

Sometimes, images are interesting for only a short period, or at least the sales potential are higher for a limited number of days. Examples are images from nature disasters, sports events or incidents with interest across i.e. the whole of Europe. If you have uploaded images from such an incident, and want us to review them at once, we need to know. Therefore, send us an e-mail about your images, and we'll push the images first in the review queue.

Hard drive install completed

Last evening, the planned hard drive installing was successfully carried out. System has been tested, and works as it should. We have therefore opened for uploading images again.

Oil rig images - offshore

As most people know, oil is important for Norway. We do have several small and larger Norwegian newspapers/magazines as customers. Naturally, some of them need images of oil rigs. We do unfortunately have very few images of oil rigs in the Northern Sea. Probably because he fact that most oil rigs are offshore and not easily accessible. Nevertheless, if there are photographers in the area of oil rigs, and able to take some shots, we welcome these images.   

Search trend: Pads

Some years ago, the laptop was the new. Today, the hot stuff is ipad and other "pads". We do still have few images of  "pads", and will gladly add more images to the database. If you are doing shots of "pads", remember we accept both 'editorial only' as well as regular stock images.
